Lost card? Block card online
Is your personal card lost or stolen? Please report this as soon as possible. Your card will then be blocked. This protects you against misuse. You can do this easily through your My OV-chipkaart account. You can block, replace or terminate your card and apply for a credit refund. We add automatic reloading and passes to your replacement card. A replacement card costs €11. You will receive this within an average of 3 working days.
What happens now?
1. We will block your old card;
2. You apply for a replacement card. This costs € 11, you pay through iDEAL or terminate the old card and apply for a credit refund;
3. We transfer your pass and/or automatic reloading to your replacement card;
4. We return the credit from your old card to your bank account within 15 days;
5. You will receive your replacement card in 3 working days and will then be able to travel again.
Tip: Ask your operator how you can travel until you receive your replacement card. As a student, you apply for the temporary student travel product at www.studentenreisproduct.nl (new window). You can then travel again within one hour.
Old card blocked
Report your card lost or stolen as soon as possible. Your personal OV-chipkaart will be blocked from the following day and you will be protected from misuse.
Pass on replacement card
If there was a pass on your old card, this will also be on your new card and you can simply start travelling again, as long as the pass is still valid. Find out from your operator how to travel until you receive your replacement OV-chipkaart.
Automatic reloading on replacement card
If you had automatic reloading on your old card, we will also add automatic reloading to the new card and you can travel as usual.
If there is credit on your old card, the amount will be returned to your bank account within 15 days. You will not be charged an administration fee.
What losses can you expect?
The losses you can expect are limited. Until your card is blocked, anyone who finds the card can travel freely. In the worst case scenario this will be the maximum journey that can be made in a 24 hour period on public transport in the Netherlands. This costs around € 70.

No OV-chipkaart account? You can also call OV-chipkaart Customer Services on 0900-0980 (normal phone cost). Please have your bank account number to hand for your credit refund and to pay for your replacement card. A replacement card costs €11. You will authorise this payment over the telephone.
