You can travel with your OV-chipkaart using the OV-chipkaart e-purse or a travel product. Travel products are, for example, a single journey or a season ticket. These can be loaded onto your personal or anonymous OV-chipkaart at a vending machine or a Sales Information Point. You can load multiple products onto your card at once. Please bear in mind that with an anonymous OV-chipkaart you do not get any personal discounts, such as the age limit discount, on your travel product and not all products are available to you.

Personal travel products, such as season tickets, can be loaded onto your personal OV-chipkaart only. Potential discounts (for example, for children up to 11 years, senior citizens 65 and older, the right to a fixed discount) are automatically taken into account in the price of the travel product when you use the personal OV-chipkaart. You can also load personal travel products onto your card at a vending machine or Sales Information Point.

Most public transport companies allow you to load season tickets onto your OV-chipkaart yourself, at a vending machine or ticket office, with the exception of annual season tickets.
